Bio-Kult Candea 60 Capsules

Bio-Kult Candea 60 Capsules

Strengthen your natural defences against Candida.

Bio-Kult Candea from Protexin is a probiotic supplement with added garlic and grapefruit seed extract. Taken daily it can help strengthen the body's natural defences against Candida overgrowth and may help to prevent it changing from its yeast-like form to the invasive filamentous fungus form.

Bio-Kult Candea contains -

- Seven strains of probiotic bacteria to reinforce the gut microflora, helping to prevent Candida from finding sites in the gut to grow. They also lower the gut pH so that Candida, which prefers a more alkaline environment, cannot thrive.

- Garlic and grapefruit seed extract - proven natural anti-fungals. These are also proven to be compatible with the probiotic bacteria in Bio-Kult Candea.

What is Candida?

It is known that at least one third of healthy people carry the Candida fungus in the mouth, intestine or the vagina in its commensal, unicellular, yeast-like form. This form of Candida is normally harmless, especially in low numbers, and is therefore considered a normal inhabitant in these locations.

In certain circumstances, such as where an overgrowth occurs, it can change to an invasive, multicellular, filamentous fungus form. This can cause a condition called candidiasis, where the filaments can attach to the intestinal wall and break down the boundary with the circulatory system. This can then allow partially digested dietary proteins into the bloodstream and trigger immune responses throughout the body.

The causes of Candidiasis

There are many theories on why the Candida yeast-like form changes into a filament-shaped fungus form. Most healthcare practitioners agree that it occurs through an attach on the immune system resulting from a weakened gut microflora. This can be from prolonged use of antibiotics, from steroids or oral contraceptives, or from a combination of these. Dietary reasons, such as ahigh sugar diet could also be a factor, as could a stressful lifestyle.

Candida albaicans is the species resposible for the majority of infections, but other species such as Candida glabrata, Candida parapsilosis and Candida tropicalis are also pathogenic.

Symptoms

Candidiasis can affect both men and women, and may lead to -

- Oral thrush

- Food / environmental allergies

- Depression / anxietu / irritability / mood swings

- Fatigue

- Heatburn / indigestion / bloating / flatulence

- Joint soreness

- Dry, itchy, flaky skin / acne / other skin problems

- Migraine

It can also result in recurring cystitis / vaginal infections in women, as well as premenstual tension and menstrual problems. In men it can also lead to a form of thrush in the groin area called tinea cruris.

However, such symptoms may not necessarily be due to candidiasis; it is important to obtain a safe and accurate laboratory diagnosis via a stool or blood sample analysis.
